The North Sydney Heritage Museum showcases the very best of the history of Cape Breton's oldest incorporated town. The Museum houses exhibits, photographs, artifacts, original documents and the history of the people and politics that make up North Sydney. The museum also has specific areas devoted to communications, police and fire departments, a Dutch Heritage area and areas displaying the contribution of the town's citizens to the First and Second World War. You can explore the Museum at your own pace or take a guided tour. Admission is free! Hours of operation are: Monday - Friday 10:00am - 5:00pm, Saturday 12:00pm - 4:00pm.
How to get there
Coming from the Canso Causeway, take Exit 2 to North Sydney. Turn left and follow King St. until you reach the water. Take another left. The museum is located on the right hand side at 309 Commercial St. Coming from Sydney, take exit 3 to North Sydney and take a right. Follow along the water until you come to the business area of Commercial St. The museum is located on the right hand side.
